Badbury Rings

🗿 Monument📍 Shapwick

Badbury Rings in Dorset is a magnificent Iron Age hill fort, its great concentric ramparts rising from the chalk downland in a series of grassy rings that have barely changed in two thousand years. Set on the Kingston Lacy estate, it is surrounded by ancient landscape — Romano-British roads, Bronze Age barrows, and an avenue of beech trees — and carries the atmospheric weight of a site that was important through many successive eras. In spring, the rings come alive with wildflowers and the constant wheeling of rooks overhead.

Best for walkers, prehistory enthusiasts, and those who love wild Dorset landscape.
