Dolaucothi Gold Mines
The Dolaucothi Gold Mines in Carmarthenshire are the only known Roman gold mines in Britain, worked over 2,000 years ago by the Romans who were drawn by the precious metal gleaming in the Welsh hills. The ancient tunnels and later Victorian workings create a layered industrial history that is utterly unlike anything else in the National Trust's care.
