Monk's House
Monk's House in the Sussex village of Rodmell was the country retreat of Virginia Woolf and her husband Leonard, and the place where she did much of her writing. The modest weatherboarded cottage feels quietly intimate — it is the kind of home that rewards slow looking, from the garden she tended and loved to the writing lodge at its foot where some of the twentieth century's most important literature took shape. For anyone who has ever been moved by Woolf's writing, it is an extraordinarily affecting place to visit.
