Standen
Standen in West Sussex is a late Victorian country house built for the London solicitor James Beale, and it stands as one of the finest intact expressions of the Arts and Crafts movement in Britain. The house is filled with William Morris wallpapers and fabrics, Kempe stained glass and Sussex-made furniture, all beautifully preserved. The terraced garden descends from the house in gentle stages, giving way to woodland walks with views across the Medway Valley.
- Outstanding William Morris interiors
- Arts and Crafts movement showcase
- Terraced garden with Medway views
Best for design enthusiasts and lovers of the Arts and Crafts movement.
