The Needles
The Needles are three distinctive chalk stacks rising from the sea off the western tip of the Isle of Wight, capped by a red-and-white striped lighthouse that has guided ships through the channel since 1859. The headland above — managed by the National Trust — offers some of the most dramatic coastal walking on the island, with views across to the Dorset coast and Alum Bay's famous coloured sands. On a clear day the panorama is simply extraordinary.
