Washington Old Hall

๐Ÿ›๏ธ House๐Ÿ“ Sunderland

Washington Old Hall in Sunderland is an intimate medieval manor house with an extraordinary transatlantic significance: it was the ancestral home of the forebears of George Washington, first President of the United States. Parts of the building date to the twelfth century, and the hall was restored in the twentieth century thanks to fundraising on both sides of the Atlantic. A modest and deeply atmospheric place carrying enormous historical weight.

Best for history enthusiasts and anyone fascinated by the roots of American democracy.
