Mussenden Temple

🗿 Monument📍 Downhill

Mussenden Temple perches at the very edge of the Downhill cliffs in County Londonderry, with the Atlantic crashing far below and the coast of Donegal stretching away in the distance — surely one of the most audaciously situated buildings in Ireland. Built in the 18th century as a library by the eccentric Earl Bishop of Bristol, it remains a symbol of romantic folly at its most spectacular.

Best for dramatic coastal scenery and architectural curiosity.
